I Breathe You

There’s the manliness…

That might be my favorite part

Sweat, pheromones, body wash

Leave their distinct signature

On my pillows. Blankets, clothes

Active

Motivated

Happy

Adventurous

Stable in motion

Romantic as sin

Charming by virtue

The essence of you

I can breathe it in

During those astronomical nights

Wrapped in each other’s embrace

I invite you into my lungs

And breathe deeply

As you fill my lungs

Memories flood my mind

Your warmth lingers

On my tender skin

And I breathe

I open my eyes

What lies next to me

Is vacancy

And I sit

Holding a single pillow case

Desperately to my face

And once again…

I breathe you.
